Top tips for perfect shampooing!
If you want to give yourself that salon perfect shampoo then here is what you need to do....- Brush your hair through before you start. This loosens any product and takes out tangles.
- Use less product! Most of us use way too much product. Your first shampoo does not need to lather to be working!
- Apply evenly and massage the scalp – never ‘rub’ the shampoo through the midlengths and ends – you don’t need to and this disturbs the cuticle and is what tangles your hair! As the shampoo is washed away that will be enough to clean through (unless you have used a lot of heavy styling products or hairspray -then you might need to GENTLY massage through the hair.
- Always do two shampoos – but use even less shampoo on the second one – again focus on the scalp. If you are using a colour enhancing or treatment shampoo then leave it on for a couple of minutes on the second shampoo.
- Rinse really well.
- When you apply conditioner rub it together in your hands first and then work from the tips of your hair UP TO the roots to apply – this prevents you blobbing the whole lot on the front hair line and trying to spread it backwards – which is what most people do!
- Massage this gently through the midlengths and ends to work it through – we don’t comb through conditioner we use special natural bristle brushes to ensure that the hair is not damaged.
- Rinse conditioner well – but do not OVER rinse! Why put all that product on to rinse it all back out again!
- Squeeze out excessive moisture first before towel drying. When you towel dry do not RUB the hair in all directions (again disturbing the cuticle). Squeeze the hair with the towel rather than rubbing.
- Use a soft bristle brush to brushs through – this will be gentle on the hair and also will gently massage your scalp.
