It was chaos on the catwalks showing Autumn/Winter 2012, my kind of chaos! The trends are jarring, eclectic and a little bit bonkers and I adore each one. For the woman on the street that means LOTS of ways to channel personal style and still be on trend. Take your pick from tribal, exotic, vintage, metallic, pretty pastels, sport luxe or Gatsby glamour. Obviously I took mine from the most colourful and eye catching of all!
Basso and Brooke hold nothing back on pattern and colour but somehow it all worked. I loved the masculine feel, offset with deeply glamorous make-up and hair that oozed effortless femininity. Hair shades were super chilled with cool blondes and bitter chocolates but the centre parting, glossy shine and soft tendrils were the bigger story here. It was a fabulous contradiction of laid back glamour mixed with eye popping designs.
Antoni and Alison turned variations on a basic shift into a fashion story that embraced practically every trend. The iridescent floaty fabrics, the block colours, patterns and acid shades were all showstoppers. I love, love, love the fact that every model had a Mia Farrow inspired head hugging textured crop. The fringes were chipped and chunked which brought this look bang up-to-date and the careful blend of natural shades amplified the texture. BIG tick on this one!
Moschino Cheap & Chic’s collection of candy inspired clothing was utterly edible. Pastels, pop out prints, flounces, frills, fur, chiffon and layering made this collection a dressing up box dream for girly girls. To top it off they added slightly sultry but űber natural make-up and fabulous 60’s up-do’s. The slouchy knots, wispy outlines, half partings and height at the crown were all sooo Bridget Bardot. If you’ve got the length, definitely see your hairdresser to find out how to recreate this one to twin with your new wardrobe.
Autumn/Winter 2012 is set to be one of THE most exciting seasons in recent years. I’m almost wishing the summer away…almost!
